One of my friends buys prints and has them stretched onto canvas. I can't tell the difference at all, but I know nothing about art and couldn't tell an original from a copy so take it with a grain of salt!
I, as well, don't know the process involved - but I say go for it. All I can say with certainty is, if Eyecandy was on a canvas; I'd buy it in a second.
Sans, I'm so glad you're actually thinking of taking some of your own stuff seriously. Print it, man! Go talk to an art school-ish supply store - they'll have the best advice.

Lisa; Welcome, thank you. I have taken the plunge and had the graphic printed onto canvas.
Special K, I have taken the initiative and ordered you 7 copies. Christmas is coming...
Julia, I wouldn't say I'm taking it seriously. Let's just call it a technical exercise. I also need a Christmas present for my niece...
